David L. Steltz, age 61, of Slinger, passed away after his battle with ALS on Monday, April 25, 2011 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on August 24, 1949 in Ashland to the late Lawrence and Irene (nee Locks) Steltz. David served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. On April 24, 1976, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Gundrum at St. Peter and Paul Church in Nenno.
David worked as a pre-press coordinator for Glenroy, Inc. in Menomonee Falls. He was a member of the American Legion Bintzler-Waehler Post #347 in Lomira. David enjoyed his flower gardens, traveling, playing cards and slot machines at the casinos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Steltz of Slinger; four children, Leon (Catherine) Steltz of Slinger, Nichole Steltz of Slinger, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Berndt of West Bend and Christopher Steltz of Slinger; two grandchildren, Ethan Tyler Steltz and Marissa Pamela Berndt; four sisters, Linda (Jodi) Hellmuth of Hartford, Susan McCrae of Wauwatosa, Donna Steltz of West Bend, and Janet (Vic) Krause of Germantown; brother, Al (special friend Barb)Steltz of St. Lawrence; sister-in-law, Joanne (Russ) Netland of Theresa; two brothers-in-law, Eugene (Muriel) Gundrum of Hartford and Leo Gundrum of Oxford; other relatives and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Phyllis Steltz, brother-in-law, Bruce McCrae, god-son, Ronald Koppen; nephew, Richard Koppen; and parents-in-law, Edmund and Delores Gundrum.
Funeral services in remembrance of David will be held on Friday, April 29th at 6:30 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend with Rev. William Dushek officiating. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 3:30 pm until the time of the service.
Memorials in David's name to the ALS Association are appreciated by the family.
