David "Dave" E. Kollmansberger

David E. Kollmansberger, 79, of West Bend was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

David "Dave" was a man of unwavering faith, whose love for Jesus and devotion to his Bible was evident in every aspect of his life. Born and raised in Barton and Young America, Dave's upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the simple joys of life. He found immense joy in being a father to his children, treating each one with equal love and cherishing his grandchildren unconditionally. His affection for his cat Cleo was a testament to his capacity for love and compassion.

As a young man, Dave served his country proudly as a veteran of the Army from 1961 to 1964, where he trained at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was stationed in Germany as a mechanic and driver in a personnel carrier. One of his favorite tales was of the time he maneuvered the vehicle into a narrow pathway, only to get it stuck, resulting in a broken tooth from the impact – a humorous anecdote that highlighted his resilient spirit.

Upon returning home, Dave's path intersected with the lives of Joyce and her daughter Deborah, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. Their union in 1965 was the inception of a beautiful chapter, enriched by the arrivals of David in 1966 and Michael in 1968. Together, they embarked on a journey brimming with love, laughter, and countless shared adventures. Dave's hobbies, ranging from hunting and fishing to boating and late model race car driving, reflected his zest for life and his appreciation for the outdoors.

Professionally, Dave excelled as a Tool and Die maker, dedicating the majority of his career to Briggs & Stratton Small Motors Division in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His craftsmanship and dedication left an indelible mark on the industry, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and peers alike.

In September of 2019, Dave faced the devastating loss of his beloved wife, Joyce, who had been his partner and confidante for 54 years. Though he was heartbroken, his faith remained steadfast, guiding him through his grief and reminding him of the eternal bond they shared.

Throughout his retirement, Dave continued to find joy in his hobbies, his family, and his unwavering faith. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Those David leaves behind to cherish his memory include his beloved cat Cleo; his children, Deborah A. Pocian, David A. (Tracy) Kollmansberger, and Michael (Krisztina) Coleman; his grandchildren; Samantha Pocian, Matyas Coleman, Bence Coleman, Mikaela (Alex) Boden, and Kelsey Luehring; his siblings, Jerome, Gilbert (Kitty), Roger (Patricia) Kollmansberger, and Susan Simonson; his siblings-in-law; Janice (Gerald) Depies, Jean (TN), Gary (Sharon), Tony, Corrine “Dena”,  and Dwayne (Betty) Pocian.

David is proceeded in death by his wife Joyce (Pocian) Kollmansberger; father and mother, Edwin and Cathryn; father and mother-in-law, Anthony and Dorothy (nee Pietrowiak) Pocian; brothers-in-law, Jack, Dennis & Terry Pocian, Steve Wydick, Ray Upson, and August Simonson; sisters-in-law, Christine “Marlene” Wydick, Kathleen Upson, Sherry Pocian, and Shirley Kollmansberger.

A graveside service in remembrance of David will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.
