Dean E. Karls, 76, of Richfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on October 15, 1934, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Michael W. and Irene M. (Wolf) Karls. Dean was a 1952 graduate of Rufus King High School and served his country in the U. S. Army from 1954-57. Dean received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Platteville. In 1959 he married Lisette Thiede in Potosi. Dean and Lisette had two sons, Christopher and Jeffrey.
On September 4, 2004, Dean married Lucille Fellenz at Crown of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richfield. Dean passionately enjoyed ballroom dancing and enjoyed reading. He was a very active member of Crown of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richfield. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory include wife, Lucille; two sons, Col. Christopher D. (Helen) Karls of Chesterfield, Virginia and Dr. Jeffrey P. (Danette) Karls of Fisher, Pennsylvania; three stepchildren, Rev. Steven (Bonnie) Blumer of Orlando, Florida, Sherry (Randy) Kemp of Theresa and Laurie (Patrick) Clapham of Grafton; a brother, Dale (Diana) Karls of Hermosa Beach, California; two grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Alexandria Karls, USAF and MM3 Maxwell Karls, USN; seven step-grandchildren, Rev. Ben (Carrie) Blumer, Noelle (Don) Weston, Rev. Dustin (Kat) Blumer, Stacie (Paul) Zwick, Nickolas (Laurie) Kemp, Allissa (Eric) Borchardt and Amanda Keller, 13 step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald.
Funeral services for Dean were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Crown of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1292 Tally Ho Trail, Hubertus (in Richfield). Rev. Michael Helwig officiated and private burial was in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
