Dennis R. Seideman, 65, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Kathy Hospice, West Bend.
He was born on October 26, 1942 in Newburg to the late Raymond and Clara (nee Gerner) Seideman. On July 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Maggie Dowe at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lakefield.
Dennis worked at the West Bend Company from 1962 to 1970 and farmed near Kewaskum from 1970 to 1986. He then became a field supervisor for Super Wash Car Wash, Inc. and was the owner of the Super Wash in West Bend and Wisconsin Rapids.
Dennis had a great sense of humor and could make anything fun. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix and he could always find just the right part somewhere in the shed that he was always organizing. He helped pound dents out of the kid's cars and could troubleshoot an electrical or mechanical problem, over the phone, at a car wash 100 miles away. He was also "grill extraordinairo" at the annual Seideman Reunion.
He was proud of his kids and their spouses. He loved going for walks with the grandkids and watching them perform at their dance recitals, cheerleading events, and wrestling meets.
Dennis and Maggie loved paddle boating on Big Cedar Lake. They also enjoyed traveling to every state, whether by car or air, as well as two trips to Europe.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie; three children, Brian (Lisa) Seideman of Campbellsport, Robert (Tammy) Callison of Gilbert, Arizona, and Deborah (Christopher) Genthe of West Bend; six grandchildren, Emily Seideman, Benjamin Callison, Kalie Callison, Brennan Callison, Ana Genthe, and Amelia Genthe; two sisters, Marion (Kenneth) Race of Woodruff, and Phyllis (Bruce) Naumann of West Bend; five brothers, Charles (Virginia) Seideman of Austin, Texas, Walter (Ruth) Seideman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Roger Seideman of West Bend, Gerald (Joyce) Seideman of St. Germain, and Wayne (Rosemary) Seideman of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Alfred) Falk of Newburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Seideman; a brother, Frederick Seideman; two sisters-in-law, Hertha Seideman and Susan Seideman; and a brother-in-law, Frederick Dowe.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23 at 5:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 501 Walnut St., West Bend, with Rev. Rich Vincent officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Cremation will follow at Myrhum - Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, West Bend.
Memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Kathy Hospice, St. Joseph's Hospital Cardiac Rehab, or the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Kim at Horizon Home Hospice and the staff of Kathy Hospice for the care given to Dennis.
