Dietrich G. Otto

April 16, 1927 — December 7, 2019

Dietrich G. Otto, 92, of Lomira was carried home on Saturday, December 7, 2019. After a brief illness, God saw fit to bring “Pop” home to be with his heavenly family.

He was born on April 16, 1927 to the late Martin and Gertrude (nee Ruege) Otto in Berlin, Germany. Dietrich moved to the United States in 1950 where he honorably served in the 557th Ordinance and Maintenance Company in the United States Army Air Corp. He spent a year and a half over seas in Germany post WWII and served in the Korean Era. On August 8, 1959 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Roehl in West Allis WI. Dietrich worked for Nash-Motor Co. in Milwaukee as a mechanic and then worked at Doelger & Kirsten Co, as a tool and die mechanical design engineer until retirement. He was a boy scout leader for decades. Dietrich was a member of the VFW #8339, the American Legion, and an active member of the churches he attended. In his later years he enjoyed his hobby farm. He loved nature, bird watching, and making models, he even built his owned sailboat. He will be missed by many but we all hold the multitude of quips and sly smiles in our hearts. I know he’d want to recognize all the wonderful people he felt proud to call friends and his cousins, he loved you all. Don’t grieve for him, but rejoice! He’s home.

Those Dietrich leaves behind to cherish his memory include his three children, James “Yo” Newman, Thomas “Hap” (Chris) Newman, and Pamela Newman; four grandchildren, Johnathan (Michelle) Hintz, James (Carol) Hintz, Jacqueline (Chris) Martinez, and Lorraine Young; many great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; his cousins, Hella and Barbara; other loved ones and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife. Dorothy Otto.
