Donald E. “Don” Frey, 72, of the town of Byron, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, with his wife and his daughter, Lorrie, at his side.
He was born on August 25, 1938, in Milwaukee, the son of the late John and Alvina (Ulrich) Frey, and on October 25, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mildred “Milly” Dahm at Salem Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
The couple farmed in the Milwaukee area until 1968 when they moved to Byron. Don founded Frey Livestock and was a lifelong livestock dealer and farmer. He will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment he received from hunting, fishing, playing sheepshead with his friends and listening to polka music. Don will be sadly missed by his wife, his family, many friends and all of his customers.
Those Don leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Mildred; seven children, Lorrie Frey, Don (Tracy) Frey, Lisa Luckow, Denise (Brian) Meyer, John (Rita) Frey, Ginny (Jon) Trewin and Amy (Todd) Pinno; 18 grandchildren, Katy Holland, Nick Luckow, Holly, April and Jacob Frey, Cassie, Ali, Aaron and Corey Meyer, Meghan, Sarah and Kaylee Frey, Tyler and Anna Trewin, Jessica, Josh, Jadon and Jillian Pinno; a great-grandson, Jeremiah Luckow; a sister, Lorraine (Bill) Puestow; two sisters-in-law, Carol Liubakka and Ruth Sumner; special buddies, the Uttendorfer boys, Paul, Lou and Joe, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Frey.
Funeral services for Don were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 550 Water Street in Lomira. Rev. Daniel Schmidt officiated and entombment followed at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends called at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
