Donald W. Homuth, 92, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.
He was born on September 25, 1920 in the town of Barton to the late Harry and Mildred (nee Ostrander) Homuth and he graduated from West Bend High School in 1938. Don served in the U.S. Army 516th Ordinance Co. during WWII. He was united in marriage to Ruth Droege on April 17, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Ruth passed away on August 16, 1996.
Don was employed at West Bend Motor Company from 1937 to 1950 and was the owner and operator of West Bend Implement Co. from 1957 until his retirement in 1974. He was a life member of the Wisconsin Implement Dealers Association and was a member of the West Bend Rotary Club for many years. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, where he served in many capacities including Trustee, Board of Elders, and Scholarship and Vocations committee.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Duane) Graf of Greenfield, and Judith Wolbert of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Nathan (Sarina) Graf, Janet Wolbert, and Kristin Wolbert; a brother, Richard (Sharon) Homuth of Texas; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Homuth of Minocqua, and Gertrude Wamsley of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth, and a brother, Earl Homuth.
A funeral service in remembrance of Don will be held on Sunday, December 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend, with Rev. David Kellmerman of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial with military honors will be on Wednesday, December 26 at 11:00 a.m. in Newark Cemetery in the town of Barton.
