Donald J. Nowak, age 83, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the Town of West Bend.
He was born on April 4, 1923 in Milwaukee to the late Charles and Bertha (nee Riekowski) Nowak. Donald served his country during WWII by enlisting in the United States Navy. Upon his return from the service he attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and earned a degree as a Mechanical Engineer. Following his graduation he began a career working for Allis Chalmers of Milwaukee, and later for the Falk Corporation of Milwaukee.
Donald was a member of the Milwaukee Ski Club, and the Wisconsin Go Hiking Club. In his free time, Donald enjoyed wood working projects.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Walburga "Dot"; his cherished daughter, Margaret (James) Knepper of Melbourne, FL; his dear sister, Shirley Lemanczyk of Milwaukee; and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 4:00 pm at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church (1025 S. Seventh Ave West Bend, WI 53095). Father Jeffrey Haines will be the Celebrant. A visitation will follow the mass in the lower level of the church.
