Donald E. Shaffer

Donald E. Shaffer, 63, of the town of Lomira, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 14, 2011, at his home.


He was born on November 22, 1947, in Avonmore, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Kenneth and Clara (Kunz) Shaffer, and on February 17, 1985, he was united in marriage to Kay Merkel.


Donald served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was involved with the golf industry for 25 years, currently employed as maintenance director of The Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira and assistant supervisor at West Bend Lakes Golf Club in West Bend. Donald was a member of the Golf Course Superintendent Association, the Professional Photography Association and the Mineral Point American Legion.


Those Donald leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Kay; five children, Jennifer (Brad) Davis, Terri (Shaun) McMahon and Callie Shaffer all of Rome, New York, Randy (Ann) Hackbarth and Kerri (Andre’) Leszczynski both of Mosinee; a brother, Ken (Catherine) Shaffer of Apollo, Pennsylvania; a sister, Norma (David) King of Brechin, Ontario, Canada, seven grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Donald were held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira. Pastor Larry Bremer
officiated and military honors rites performed by members of the Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post 347 Lomira followed the service. Burial was in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.


Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
