Donald “Don” E. Waugus, 82, of Germantown, passed away at Ellen’s Home South on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Don was born to the late Gustav and Lillian (nee Gunderson) Waugus on March 27, 1935 in Marinette, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school in Marinette, he went to Carthage College on a football scholarship and finished his education with a Bachelor’s degree at UW Milwaukee. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Marlene Behrens on May 16, 1959 in Marinette. Don began his career as an Engineer at Badger Meter and later retired from Harnischfeger after 25 years.
Don enjoyed the outdoors and everything it had to offer from fishing and hunting to golfing. He loved traveling and went on four cruises, traveled to many national parks, and also went to Europe. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Brewers, college football and college basketball.
Those Don leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Marlene; children, Susan (Cheri Noll) Kerr and Lynn (James) Anderson; grandchildren, Evan (Jessica Dallmann) Kerr, Ethan Kerr, Eric (fiancée Raelyn Shambeau) Kerr, Calvin Anderson, and Cameron (fiancée Elsa Barnaby) Anderson; great-grandchild, Sydney Kerr; his brother, Everett (Pat) Waugus; sister-in-law, Helen Kleemann; and brother-in-law, Al Behrens. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Gregg Waugus; sisters, Doris (Leonard) Schomer and Dorothy (Jerry) Kitzinger; brother, Clyde (Glenne) Waugus; sisters-in-law, Mary Behrens and Jean (Loren) Bannow; and brother-in-law, Thomas Kleemann.
A memorial service in remembrance for Don will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2881 Division Road Jackson, WI 53037. The Rev. Paul Mittermaier will be officiating.
Don’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Don’s name are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
