Donald N. "Don" Koerble, 88, of Campbellsport, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
He was born on January 28, 1926, in Kewaskum, the son of the late Norton and Celesta (Martin) Koerble, and on June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Edith Miller at Holy Angels in West Bend.
Don honorably served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a proud participant of the Wisconsin Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Don was a rural letter carrier for the U. S. Post Office for many years. He was a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum for many years, the Kewaskum Fire Department for 15 years and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee. A favorite pastime for Don was fishing.
Those Don leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 66 years, Edith; five children, Susan (Michael) Marx of Kewaskum, Thomas (Beverly) Koerble of Beloit, Jean Bleskacek of Elmwood, Ann Wood of Spring Valley and John (Linda) Koerble of Campbellsport; two sisters, Valeria Strobel of Kewaskum and Betty (William) Homuth of West Bend; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Maddox; a son-in-law, Tom Wood and two brothers-in-law, Desmond Smith and Lester Strobel.
Funeral services for Don were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dundee. Rev. Robert Oberg officiated and military honor rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum followed the church service. Burial was in Holy Angels Catholic Church Cemetery in West Bend.
The Koerble family greeted relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum, where the Kewaskum Fire Department had an honorary walk through at 6:00 p.m. Visitation continued at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
