Donna Mae Sopkowicz, (nee Muzik), age 82, of West Bend, passed away Saturday February 7, 2015 at the Lighthouse of West Bend. She was born on September 11, 1932 in Milwaukee to the late Anton and Florence (nee Krenke) Muzik, and graduated from Washington High School in the class of 1950. On November 17, 1951 Donna was united in marriage to Stephen P. Sopkowicz at St. Leo Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Donna formerly worked for the U.S. Post Office in Milwaukee. She loved to work on ceramics. Donna owned her own kiln and gave lessons to friends and organizations. Upon Steve and Donna's retirement they moved to Goodman and enjoyed their historic home and cottage. They finally settled in West Bend to be closer to family. Donna was a fantastic cook, loved traveling abroad with Steve and spending some winter time in Florida. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; two sons, Stephen L. (Linda) Sopkowicz of West Bend, and Craig (Carol) Sopkowicz of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Megan (Troy) Riehl, Silas Sopkowicz, and Diana Sopkowicz, all of West Bend; great-granddaughter, Melanie, who could always bring a smile to great-grandma's face; a sister-in-law, Lynn Muzik of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Stanley (dear friend Tish) Sopkowicz of Goodman; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Kenneth. A memorial service in remembrance of Donna will be held on Saturday February 21st at 2:00pm at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. Deacon Ron Schneider of St. Frances Cabrini Parish will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Memorials to the charity of your choice are appreciated. The family wishes to thank the staff of the West Bend Clinic and the staff of Cedar Crossing Sub Acute at St. Joseph's Hospital. The family is grateful to the staff of the Lighthouse of West Bend for their kindness and loving care of Donna, and Seasons Hospice for their care during Donna's final days.
