Donovan "Don" A. Donner

March 23, 1934 — February 26, 2024

On Monday, February 26, 2024, Donovan “Don” Donner ascended to his heavenly home surrounded in the love and comfort of his family.

Born on March 23, 1934 in Swanville, Minnesota, Don was the child of the late Paul and Hylma (nee Koenig) Donner. Don married the love of his life, Nancee “Nan”, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years full of great memories and devotion to being an excellent husband, father, grandfather, brother, and child of God.

In Don’s early years, he was a reservist in the ROTC. Subsequently, Don studied engineering and found his 36-year long career with Modern Equipment Company, working his way up through the company to eventually find himself in the role of Vice President of Sales. Don will be forever remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.

In his free time, Don liked to lace up his hiking boots and head for the trails. He enjoyed taking in all of God’s beauty in the world and in the serenity of nature. Don and Nan relished the liberty and relaxation of retirement, oftentimes hitting the road and traveling – a favorite of Don’s being to Sedona, Arizona. Anywhere Don was, though, he never gave up the chance to catch his favorite sports teams in action: he was an avid and lifelong Packers, Bucks, and Badgers fan.

Above all these things, Don was a God fearing, God loving man who adored his wife and family. We take comfort in knowing that he is now with his Lord and Savior, and we will never forget all the love and memories he shared with us.

Don will be forever missed by his wife, Nan; five daughters, Kim Donner, Cindy (Mike Schneider) Donner, Kelly Donner, Wendy (Gary) Freitag, Julie (Andy Brunner) Donner; his eight adoring grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Donna Schulz. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and friends over all the years.

He was met at Heaven’s Gates by his parents; his grandson, Michael Freitag; and his brother-in-law, Marlin Schulz.

Don’s family will celebrate his life with a private service.

In honor of Don’s spirit, please consider making a donation in his name to one of his three favorited charities: Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Samaritan’s Purse, or Northbrook Church in Richfield.

“Well done, my good and faithful servant.” ~Matthew 25:21
