Dorothea M. Kiel (nee Heise), age 86, of West Bend, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
She was born on June 17, 1924, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (nee Reif) Heise. In her younger years, she was a secretary at the shipyards in Manitowoc where she was born. On March 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lloyd "Bud" Kiel in Manitowoc. They moved to West Bend the following year. Dorothea worked as a sales representative for J.C. Penny until she retired.
She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ "Fountain of the Sun" where she spent her winters for the past 26 years. Dorothea was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Beloved by all who knew her. She loved playing bridge, sheepshead, gardening, swimming, golfing, knitting, crocheting, and sewing, and was a great homemaker.
Dorothea is survived by her husband, Lloyd "Bud" of West Bend; five children, Lynn (Frank) Krivitz of OroValley, AZ, Chris (Jim) Wollner of West Bend, Jeff (Candy) Kiel of Reno, NV, Jon (Diane) Kiel of Allenton, and Lisa (friend, Mark) Brown of Campbellsport; nine grandchildren, Shawn (friend, Rebecca) Krivitz, Travis (Laurie) Wollner, Tricia (Mark) Keller, Andrew (friend, Nicole) Kiel, Ashley (Matt) Dover, Lindsey Kiel, Kerry (Kevin) Smith, Amanda (Tom) Rauch and Danielle Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Wollner, Bo Keller, Luke Keller, Caleb Smith, Ava Smith, Xavier Rauch and Avery Rauch; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Anthony of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and their spouses, Florence (Fred) Schwalbe, Loraine (Walter) Olsen, Lillian Heise and Phyllis (Art) Schmidt; and her grandson, David Krivitz.
A memorial service in remembrance of Dorothea will be held on Friday, September 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, (809 S. 6th Avenue), West Bend with Rev. Jeff Dorth officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
