Dorothy E. Benedict, (nee Loebe), age 98, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the Town of West Bend.
She was born on June 29, 1909 in West Bend, to the late Bernhardt and Emma (nee Yahr) Loebe. Dorothy was united in marriage to Leonard Benedict on July 19, 1930 at Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church in West Bend. Leonard preceded Dorothy in death on March 20, 1995.
"Dot" as she liked to be called, was an active member of the Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church for 84 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher, and was involved with the United Methodist Women. She participated in the American Field Service, sharing her home with a Japanese exchange student named Mike. Dot also enjoyed square dancing, traveling, crafting, and was a former Girl Scout leader.
Dorothy is survived by her two children, Bonnie Hildebrand of Colorado, and Col. (retired) Stephen L. (Diane) Benedict of California; six grandchildren, Daniel, Douglas, Lisa, Jennifer, Stephen, and Chelsea; several great-grandchildren; two nieces, Shirley (Leslie) Timm, and Jean Peotter; two nephews, Ronald Loebe and Gerald Loebe, who is also her God Son; many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son David Leonard Benedict; a niece Virginia Boudewyn; along with all of her sisters & brothers.
A graveside service in honor of Dorothy will be announced next spring.
