Dorothy Mildred Breit, (nee Kertscher), age 76, of Muskego, formerly of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
She was born on March 22, 1930 in Fillmore to the late Jesse and Elsie Marie (nee Weiss) Kertscher. She attended the West Bend High School and later became a very hard worker for the Enger-Kress Company. Dorothy was united in marriage to Andrew Roman Breit on October 22, 1949. Both began there union in the city of West Bend on Madison Avenue, but soon realized that there was more of life to be discovered of an idyllic farm in Kewaskum; this is where they farmed beef cattle, hog and crops. They raised eight children; Dorothy was a devoted wife and very loving, caring, and giving mother. She always put everyone first, never herself. She will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother of eight with a heart of gold. Dorothy and Andrew were divorced on January 9, 1997, but Dorothy still held Andrew close to her heart.
Dorothy is survived by her former husband, Andrew Breit of Kewaskum; their eight children, Patricia (Roger) Brace of New Fane, Robert (Mary) Breit of Campbellsport, Glorianna (Jerome) Dahm of West Bend, Andrew Jr. (Alice) Breit of Cascade, Cecilia (Jeffery) Waala of Kewaskum, Randall (Victory) Breit of Campbellsport, Sheila Dachs of West Bend, and Brenda (fiancAC.e Steven Pawlak) Breit of Muskego; 13 grandchildren, Steven Breit, Aaron Breit, Jamie (Missi) Dahm, Jeremy (Jacki) Dahm, Kenneth Breit, Nicholas Breit, Jeffery Waala, Nicole Waala, Jesse (Jessica) Breit, Shawn Breit, Adam Breit, Charles Dachs Jr., and Carri Jo Dachs; and two great-grandchildren, Kiersten Dahm, and Dacoda Waala. She is further survived by one brother, Earl (Bernice) Kertscher; two sisters, Forence Pietschmann, and Marcella (Rudy) Stadler; and many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ruth Kertscher, Mildred (Albert) Galabinski, and Evelyn (Hilbert) Reimer; two brothers, Merlin Kertscher, and Milton (Helen) Kertscher; a brother-in-law, Albert Pietschmann; a niece, Barbara Reimer; and a nephew, David Kertscher.
A funeral service in honor of Dorothy will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home. Father Jerry Brittain will officiate and burial will follow the funeral in Fillmore Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
