Dorothy C. Christian, (nee Wild), age 88, of West Bend, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
She was born on May 6, 1921 in Oakfield, WI to the late Guy and Cecelia (nee Schabel) Wild. On August 14, 1948, Dorothy was united in marriage to Walter Christian in Cicero, IL.
Dorothy was a loving wife and mother. She loved the outdoors and being up north at their cottage on Pickeral Lake. She enjoyed daily walks in the woods picking berries. Dorothy also loved going fishing. But what she loved most was spending time with her husband of 61 years, Walter.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; four children, June (Richard) Young of St. Louis, MO, Jean (Donald) Penkoske of Kewaskum, Gayle Christian of Menomonie, WI and Alan (Betty) Christian of Lake Tomahawk, WI; five grandchildren, Pamela (Troy) Capp, Candace Oberholtzer, Jennifer (Scott) Schepp, Emily Christian and Ariel Christian; seven great-grandchildren, Vanessa Sharp, A.J. Sharp, Nicholas Capp, Kyra Oberholtzer, Brett Oberholtzer, Kaleb Schepp and Talan, Schepp; two sisters, Lucy Marsch and Mae Funk; two brothers, Jackie Wild and Bob (Pat) Wild; other relatives and many friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, Lance Penkoske and Nathan Christian; brothers, Robert (newborn), Edwin (infant) and Edwin Wild; sisters, Cora Kahlhamer and Lucille Quandt.
Funeral services in remembrance of Dorothy will be held on Friday, September 25th at 6:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington Street) West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of the services. Burial will take place Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 am at Washington County Memorial Park.
