Dorothy L. Daemmrich (nee Polege) age 90, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Kathy Hospice in West Bend.
She was born on June 4, 1918 in Stratford, WI to the late Max and Ruth (nee Blackburn) Polege. She was united in marriage to Robert Daemmrich on November 20, 1948 at Salem Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Robert passed away on October 25, 2005.
During World War II Dorothy worked for Schlitz Brewery and then Stroh Die in Milwaukee. After starting her family, Dorothy babysat and cleaned houses for several families. She was a long-time resident of Meadowbrook Manor and she enjoyed exercise class at the senior center, reading, and bird watching. She loved animals and took special enjoyment in watching larger animals at game farms and zoos. Dorothy also volunteered at Calvary Assembly of God in the nursery and the school cafeteria.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Debra (James "Hank") Luttrell of Madison, Diane (Steven) Marson of Woodman and Dale Daemmrich of Maple Lake, MN; two grandchildren, Brianna and Colleen Marson; a sister, Patricia Ralph of Antigo; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brother, George and four sisters, Viola, Lucille, June and Maxine.
A visitation to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on her birthday, Thursday, June 4, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend.
