Dorothy Mae Hetzel, 71, of Kewaskum, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011, at her home with her family at her side after a brief illness.
She was born on September 20, 1939, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Stolper) Hackbarth, and on January 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to Clifford “Cliff” Hetzel at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
Dorothy was employed by the Milwaukee Public School System as a cook. While making their home in Milwaukee, Dorothy and Cliff were members for 41 years of Benediction Lutheran Church, where Dorothy was very active in the church choir. Dorothy was a member of Lutheran Children’s Friend’s Society. Through this society Dorothy and Cliff welcomed into their hearts and home 93 foster babies. Dorothy will fondly be remembered for her love of music, the enjoyment she received from quilting and for the many dresses and costumes she sewed. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
Those Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 52 years, Cliff; five children, Rory Hetzel of Seymour, Randal (Susan) Hetzel of Milwaukee, Pamela (Gary) Beaupre’ of Kewaskum, Todd (Kathy) Hetzel of Greenfield and Suzanne (Steve) Schoening of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren, Leah and Fawn Hetzel, Jamie, Jacquelyn, Jessica and Jennae Beaupre’, Keith and Hannah Hetzel and Mandy Schoening; two brothers, Rev. Donald (Beverly) Hackbarth of Kenosha and Daniel (Sheila) Hackbarth of Wauwatosa; two sisters, Jean (Phil) Weigand of New Berlin and Lois (Bob) Hellstern of Arvada, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Sue Hackbarth of Mesa, Arizona, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, David Hackbarth.
Funeral services for Dorothy were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church (7750 Highway 144 North, West Bend) in the town of Farmington. Rev. Robert Korytkowski and Rev. Donald Hougard officiated and cremation followed the service. Burial of her cremains was in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
