Douglas “Doug” G. Petermann, age 75, passed away on April 24, 2025, at Kathy Hospice after a battle with COPD. He was born on April 29, 1949. Son of Arnold and Arlene (Letson) Petermann, he was raised in Milwaukee with his 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Doug bravely served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He trained to be an English teacher at UWM and taught at Dominican High School for 3 years. He went on to get his law degree at University of Wisconsin - Madison. Early in his law career he volunteered his time to help found a shelter for abused women in Milwaukee and represented many women against their abusers. He had a long and successful career as a trust officer at various banks including Bank One and M&I Bank.
He raised his three kids in Whitefish Bay. In retirement he spent 5 years living in Las Vegas before returning home to Wisconsin to be with family. He spent his final years with his loving wife Diana in Kewaskum. They enjoyed summers at their cabin in Eagle River.
Doug was an astute conversationalist, always ready to discuss the news of the day, history, politics, or the latest Brewers game. As a Father, Grandfather, and Great Uncle he was playful, patient, and loving. He raised his kids to love arts and culture and enjoyed attending shows at the Milwaukee Symphony and the Milwaukee Ballet. He enjoyed reading, poetry, fishing, golfing, gambling, traveling, and being with family. He could craft the written and spoken word to artfully convey his love and gratitude for those around him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Diana, and children; Theodore Petermann, Samuel (Mandy Kruisbrink) Petermann, Amelia (Nick) Henderson, and stepson Jacob Glick; grandchildren Oliver and Margot Henderson; sister Judith Gerlach and brother Norman (Sandra) Petermann. He is further survived by other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Arlene; siblings Dawn Platt, Hal Petermann, and Richard Petermann.
