Duane A. Plath, 75, of West Bend, WI, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 30, 2024.
Duane was born on September 27, 1948, to the late Arnold and Frances (nee Klitzke) Plath, and grew up in Brownton, MN. Duane’s early year escapades are still talked about around town today, and occasionally come up in the local newspaper’s historical section. On May 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to Linda Krienke. Throughout their 50 years together, they journeyed through many places before settling in West Bend.
During these many years and moves, Duane was a dedicated husband and father, working hard to provide for all his family’s needs and teaching his children many life skills. Upon retirement, he could often be found at the Sheepshead table, fishing, hunting, doing yard work, traveling back “home” to Minnesota, and going to his grandchildren’s many activities (or acting as their Uber driver). Ever the social butterfly, he was always willing to share the pride he had in his children and grandchildren, and their many accomplishments and adventures, with anyone who would listen, just ask the butcher. Duane was also an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, and was always willing to help there wherever needed, or just hang out and drink some coffee.
Among the many who will cherish the memory of Duane include his four children, Jeffrey Plath, Jennifer Rohring, Julie (Chris) Ayers, and Janet (Mike) Carroll; eight grandchildren, Travis Rohring, Scott Rohring, Henry Ayers, Louis Ayers, Truman Ayers, Abigail Carroll, Maxwell Carroll, and Charlotte Carroll; siblings, Jean (Dale) Schauer, Steve (Sue) Plath, Jim (Jan) Plath, and Deb (Ron) Ondrachek; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Katherine) Krienke; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Duane is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda ; his father- and mother-in-law, Victor and Esther Krienke; and his nephew, Trent Ondrachek.
