Edgar L. Weiss, 92, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Kathy Hospice surrounded by his family and in good humor to the end.
He was born on August 3, 1919, in Barton, the son of the late John and Bertha (Lother) Weiss, and on October 27, 1942, he was united in marriage to Marian Joosten in West Bend. Marian preceded Edgar in death.
Edgar proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946 during World War II, serving in North Africa as a corporal with the 360 MPEG. Edgar was a lifelong member of West Bend V.F.W. Post #1393.
Edgar had many varied interests but mostly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Those Edgar leaves behind to cherish his memory include four children, John Weiss of Kewaunee, LouAnn (Ed) Tadych of Harshaw, Tom (Donna) Weiss of Kewaskum and Rick (Jennifer) Weiss of Rochester, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, Dawn, Trina, Laura, Dean, Billy, Dion, Sara, Heather, Jerod and Jennifer; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith “Mutz” Zastrow of West Bend, other relatiaves and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Edgar was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Walter, Harold, Leslie and Milton and four sisters Lillian, Ester, Avis and Delores.
A Memorial Mass for Edgar was held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forest View Road in St. Michaels with Father Edwin Kornath officiating.
Edgar’s family received visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Edgar’s life to the VFW or Kathy Hospice were appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Edgar’s arrangements.
