Edward W. "Eddy" Schneider

Edward W. “Eddy” Schneider, 90, of St. Michaels, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2007, at Beechwood Rest Home in Beechwood.


He was born on September 1, 1916, in Marshfield, the son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Bendel) Schneider, and on September 11, 1948, he was united in marriage to Arlene Uelmen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels.


Ed was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels where he was a member of the church choir. He farmed in the St. Michaels area all of his life and was a very talented musician. Ed was a member of the United Orchestra Leaders and had his own band, “Concertina Eddy and his Polka Band”. He enjoyed playing the concertina, the accordion, the button accordion, the harmonica and the trumpet, and he still played instruments until recently.


Ed loved to play horseshoes and sheepshead. He enjoyed family hayrides and gardening, especially tending to his potato patch. He was an avid coon hunter and morel mushroom hunter. Ed will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.


Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Arlene; seven children, Roger (Anna) Schneider of Kewaskum, Sharon (Marvin) Ebert of Ocala, Florida, Sandi (Richard) Schultz, Janet (Martin) Fochs, Judy (Jeff) Faber, Daniel (Lisa) Schneider and Debbie (Bruce) Burdick all of Kewaskum; 22 grandchildren, Shawn Schneider (fiancée, Christine), Jamie (Josiah) Solberg, Tina, Eric, Shane, Shannon, Nicholas and Brooke Ebert, Tim Schultz, Tricia (Rob) Wilson and Robby Schultz (special friend, Bridgette), Jeffrey, Tyler and Jennifer Fochs, Brandon, Ashley and Emily Faber, Melissa and McKenzie Schneider, Corey Burdick, Brooke and Adam Dreher; three great-grandsons, Jacob and Zachary Wilson and Matthew Schultz; a sister, Anita Vogelsang of West Bend, other relatives and friends.


Ed was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph; a brother, Lester Schneider; two sisters, Cresence Thull and Angeline Zacho and a grandson, Scott Schneider.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Ed was held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2007, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8877 Forest View Road in St. Michaels. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial was at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday in the parish cemetery.


Relatives and friends called on Friday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
