Edward C. “Eddie” Emmer, 89, of the town of Lomira, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.
Eddie was born on February 6, 1929, in Ashford to Edward and Adela (nee Bingen) Emmer. On May 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to Frances (nee Budde) Emmer in Beaver Dam. Frances preceded Eddie in death on March 16, 2011.
Edward and Frances farmed in Lomira. He was also the town treasurer and was with Theresa Insurance. He will be remembered for his love of polka music, playing cards and enjoying a beer.
Those Eddie leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, Mike (Janis) Emmer of Lomira, Pat “Skinny” (Kim) Emmer of Lomira, and Janice (Joel) Warner of Fond du Lac. Eddie was a proudful man, and more than his children, he couldn’t have been more proud of his 8 grandchildren, Bradley (Jolene) Emmer, Jason (Ashley) Emmer, Christopher (special friend, Jacinta) Emmer, Colin Emmer, Mitchel (Jaclyn) Emmer, Kristyn (Seth) Whitaker, Samuel (special friend, Emily) Warner, and Sadie (special friend, Thomas) Warner. The extra sparks of joy also came with his 5 great-grandchildren, Adella, Oliver, Ashton, Lydia, Landon and Bryson Emmer. Edward is survived by one sister, Valeria (Jim) Becker; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Westerman; and a sister-in-law, Rosalie Emmer; his special card playing in-laws, Caroline Patterson, Mary Budde, Al Budde and Carl (Joyce) Budde.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; four brothers, Clarence (Gertrude) Emmer, Roman (Florence) Emmer, Wilmer (Mae) Emmer, and Robert Emmer; four sisters, Elisabeth Emmer, Marion (Art) Theisen, Kathleen (Marvin) Zehren, and Rosalyn Westerman.
Funeral services for Eddie will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Myrhum Patten Miller & Kietzer Funeral Home, 350 Main Street, in Lomira. Entombment will follow the next day at 10:00 a.m. at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Eddie’s family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brownsville First Responders or Lomira Food Pantry is appreciated.
