Edwin "Ed" Quandt

August 31, 1945 — May 18, 2006

Edwin "Ed" Quandt, age 60, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk. He was born on August 31, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Delmar and Lucille (nee Wild) Quandt. He moved with his family to West Bend at a young age and graduated from West Bend High School in 1963. Ed proudly served his country during Vietnam by enlisting in the United States Air Force. On August 10, 1968, the same day he was discharged from the service, he was united in marriage to Judy Race at Christ Lutheran Church in Jackson.

He worked in shipping and receiving for Unilever of Milwaukee for many years. Ed was a life-long Lutheran and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was also a member of the American Legion Lt. Ray Dickop Post #36 in West Bend.

He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin up north and especially loved fishing there. On beautiful days he loved going for rides on his Harley. Most of all, he loved his family and will be deeply missed by them. He is survived by his wife, Judy of West Bend; his three children, Jeffrey Quandt of West Bend, Jodi Quandt and her fiancAC.e Chuck Guysick of Jackson, and Joshua Quandt of West Bend. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Joan (Charles) Polglaze of Whitewater; a niece, Jill Polglaze of Cudahy, a nephew, Dan (Pam) Polglaze of Plymouth, MN; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Helen Race; and his father-in-law, Marvin Race.

A funeral service in celebration of Ed's life will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 7:00 pm at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service in West Bend. Rev. Oscar Kraft will officiate and cremation will follow the service. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
