Edwin "Ed" Wiebe

West Bend

Edwin Wiebe, 77, of West Bend was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.

Ed was born on December 27, 1944 to the late David and Kathrina “Tena” (nee Bergen) Wiebe in Altona Manitoba, Canada. In 1954, they entered New Tribes Mission (NTM) missionary training and became missionaries to Bolivia, South America the summer of 1957. There, Ed attended the mission boarding school Tambo and graduated high school in 1963. From there he attended New Tribes Bible Institute in Waukesha, WI and bootcamp in Fredonia, WI where he met Jane. They were married June 16, 1968. Their 2 children, Shane and Laura were born in Missouri during the last phase of their missionary training and in August, 1971 Ed and family became missionaries to Bolivia, working with the Yuqui Tribe on the Rio Chimore. They later moved to Santa Cruz, Bolivia and helped start the National Training Program there. In 1984, they returned to Wisconsin to work in the radio and video ministries of NTM and were active members of Elmbrook and Northbrook Churches. He retired from NTM in 2014 but continued to minister in their churches and to those around him.

Those Edwin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 54 years, Jane Wiebe; two children, Shane (Lisa) Wiebe and Laura (Andy) Jones; four grandchildren, Ashley (Josiah) Yingling, Jubilee Wiebe, Gabriella Wiebe, and Gavin Kraiss; three sisters, Barbara Eddy, Marlene (Harry) Enns, and Lyn (James) Avery; a brother, Kenneth “Ken” (Cindy) Wiebe; brother-in-law, Ron (Duanne) Risse; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Dean (Jane) Risse.

A memorial service in remembrance of Edwin will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Community Church, 2005 S. Main St., West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a fund will be available in his name to give to the work in Bolivia through NTM, now called Ethnos 360.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Samaritan Health Center for all their help and care.
