Elaine M. Lind

Elaine M. Lind, (nee Mortenson), age 89, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday February 9, 2005 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born on May 25, 1915 in Waupaca to the late Alfred and Julia (nee Christianson) Mortenson. On September 17, 1939 she was united in marriage to Ronald "Mac" McGill in Waupaca. Together they made their home in Waupaca for several years before moving to Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1970. She then married Verner Lind on November 22, 1980 in Waupaca. He also preceded her in death on November 18, 1989. Elaine moved to West Bend in 1989.

Elaine worked in the offices of Chapman's, Schuster's, American Paper Company, and St. Mary's Hospital, all in Milwaukee, until her retirement in 1973. After retiring she helped with clerical work and as a seamstress. Elaine was also a volunteer at children's hospital in Milwaukee. She loved babies and had a special way of comforting them. She was a member of First Baptist Church in West Bend. She enjoyed music and was a member of her church's choir for many years. Elaine was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and had been the cook and nurse at Indian Mound Boy Scout Camp in Oconomowoc.

She is survived by three children, John P. "Jack" (Barbara) McGill of Waukesha, Diane J. (Joe) Collins of Watertown, and Virginia McGill of Richmond VA; six grandchildren, Julie Collins, Virginia (Erich) Phillips, Justine Bergmann-Kieckbusch, Joshua (Amy) Collins, John (Theresa) McGill, and Michael (Jennifer) McGill; four great-grandchildren, Erica Phillips, Aundrea Bergmann, Shawn Kieckbusch, and Grace Collins; A sister Jean (Jack) Bitner of San Antonio, TX; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother John Mortenson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in West Bend. Pastor Bruce Dunford will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at the church only from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Waupaca on Monday at 1:00 p.m. Memorials to the First Baptist Church or Cedar Community are appreciated. Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
