Elaine M. Marquardt (nee Seegert), age 84, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee, found peace on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her residence while in the loving care of her son.
Elaine was born on May 20, 1929 in Milwaukee to the late Arthur and Viola (nee Heling) Seegert. Following her 1947 graduation from North Division High School, Elaine worked at Northwestern Mutual Insurance, Wausau Insurance, and AT&T before retiring at the age of 65.
Elaine enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, and crossword puzzles. She loved her family very much and moved with her son to West Bend ten years ago so they could be closer to her daughter and granddaughters. She enjoyed going to Madison to listen to polka bands, and proudly watched her son play the accordion and dance on occasion. She also liked sitting on the shore watching her son fish!
Elaine is survived by her two children, Kevin Marquardt and Debbe (David) Lemminger; four granddaughters, Becky, Jenny, Samantha, and Angela; other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Viola; and her son, Robert.
A gathering in celebration of Elaine's life will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St. West Bend).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Paula Carlton of Aurora in West Bend, Lori of Gemini Care Services, Jessica Maki of the Washington County Medical Examiner's Office, and the first responders of the West Bend Police Department and Fire Department for their professionalism and compassion. The comforting care that was given to Elaine and her family will never be forgotten.
