Elaine D. Mauritz, 57, of Theresa, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
She was born on January 28, 1951, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Andrew and Marian (Doll) Schnitzler, and on August 11, 1973, she was united in marriage to Christopher Mauritz at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa.
Elaine received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on May 16, 1973. She taught fourth and fifth grades at Fayetteville North Carolina School District from 1973-1976. From 1976-1988, she taught grades four through eight at the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. In 1989, she began working for Adia Temporary Service and was named the Employee of the Month for Milwaukee. From this employment, she gained a full-time position with Briggs and Stratton Corporation in Milwaukee where she advanced from the position of clerk to Service Accounts Administrator. Through Briggs and Stratton, Elaine received her master’s degree in Science of Organizational Leadership and Quality from Marian College in Fond du Lac on December 18, 2004.
Elaine was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Theresa, was a member of the St. Ann’s Society and taught Sunday school.
Elaine enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including spending time with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed walks with her dog, Snoopy. She had a strong value for education and enjoyed her work and co-workers as well. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband, Christopher; two children, Edward of Theresa and Elizabeth of Haslett, Michigan; her father, Andrew Schnitzler of Fond du Lac; her brothers and sisters, Gloria Perisee of Oak Park, Illinois, Edwin Schnitzler of Woodruff, Andy (Karen) Schnitzler of Theresa, Joan Schnitzler of Wausau, Rita (David) Weninger of Horicon, Carol Becker of Waukegan, Illinois, Janet (Norman) Martin of Wausau and Paul (Debra) Schnitzler of Westminster, Colorado; her mother-in-law, Patricia Mauritz of Oshkosh, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, Marion; her father-in-law, Edgar Mauritz and a niece, Kelly Schnitzler.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2009, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 106 Church Street in Theresa. Father Dennis Budka officiated and burial followed in St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery in Theresa.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home, 350 Main Street in Lomira, where a prayer service was held at 4:00 p.m. A luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Lomira followed.
