Elaine M. Werner, nee Hammen, 84, of West Bend, entered Eternal Life on Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital, West Bend.
She was born in Campbellsport on February 3, 1930 to the late Frederick and Hilda (nee Backhaus) Hammen. Elaine was united in marriage to Francis "Frank" Werner on July 29, 1950.
Elaine worked for the West Bend Company for 43 years until she retired in 1995. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Holy Angel's Catholic Church for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her many special friends from work. She loved the outdoors, nature and campfires and enjoyed playing Sheepshead and dancing, especially to polka and big band music. She was a great cook and was noted for her banana bread recipe. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Sandra) Werner of West Bend and Michael (Tammy) Werner of West Bend; five grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Dustin, Christopher, and Nicholas Werner; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Hilda Hammen; husband, Francis "Frank" Werner; three brothers, Harold, Lester, and Edwin Hammen; and three sisters, Edna Koenig, Florence Seyfert, and Dolores Luedtke.
Memorial services in remembrance of Elaine will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 5:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend. Rev. Gerald Brittain of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.
