Elizabeth J. "Betty" Steier

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Steier, 83, of Appleton, formerly of Lomira, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Appleton.


She was born on April 1, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Herring) Williams, and was united in marriage to Charles John Wilhelm in 1946. Charles preceded her in death in 1960. In 1962, Betty married Thomas A. Anderson, who helped Betty raise her family. Thomas passed away in 1997. On June 12, 1999, Betty was united in marriage to Lawrence Steier at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. Lawrence preceded Betty in death on July 5, 2002.


Betty was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. She was a fan of the television series NCIS and Law and Order and enjoyed going to the race track. She was a very loving mother who will be deeply missed by her family.

Those Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory include seven children, Charles (Ali) Wilhelm and Al (Trish) Wilhelm both of Benson, Arizona, John Wilhelm of Appleton, Bill (Josie) Wilhelm of Tucson, Arizona, Betty (Ernie) Cannon of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Judy (Paul) Miller of Fort Walton, Florida and Joan (Jim) Mauthe of Appleton; four stepchildren, Gary (Tammy) Steier, Karen (Jerome) Sterr, Diane (Robert) Henrich and Cheryl (Andy) Tews ; a sister, Mildred Irene Wyzykowski of Oregon; the family members of her late companion, Bob Kohut; 88 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Betty were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Dan Schmidt officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.


Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.


The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Betty’s arrangements.
