Elizabeth J. Straub, (nee Tennies), age 83, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday April 30, 2008 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
She was born on February 18, 1925 in Slinger to the late Henry and Anna (nee Wilkom) Tennies, and was united in marriage to Venice Straub on September 27, 1947 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Slinger. Together they made their home in St. Killian where they farmed from 1950 until 1969. During that time Elizabeth also worked as a beautician. In 1969 Venice and Elizabeth moved to West Bend, and she continued her work as a beautician. Venice preceded her in death on May 2nd, 2007.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport, and the Women of the Moose, West Bend Lodge # 1398. She was a loving mother and dedicated to her family. Elizabeth enjoyed bingo, fishing, cards, and quilting.
She is survived by eight children, George Straub of West Bend, Germaine (Richard) Mayo of Cornelius, NC, Gary (Marilyn) Straub of West Bend, Dennis (Sharon) Straub of Beloit, Gloria (John) Reindl of Kewaskum, David Straub of Theresa, Gerald (Chris) Straub of West Bend, and Gayleen (Richard) Lutz of Campbellsport; 15 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Cele Strupp of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Cordilla Knappenberger of Colorado Springs, CO; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Geoffery; one sister & six brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Elizabeth will be held on Monday, May 5th at 11:30 am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will be the celebrant and burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at the church only from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Memorials to St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac (33 Everett Street) are appreciated.
