Ella Jeanne Hammen

Ella Jeanne Hammen, age 86, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006 at Cedar Bay West in the town of West Bend.


She was born on December 28, 1919 in Antigo, the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Haese) Kupper, and on February 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Rev. Clarence Hammen in Antigo. Her husband preceded her in death on October 2, 1978.


Ella Jeanne and Rev. Hammen ministered to the Peace United Church of Christ congregation in Kewaskum from 1957 to 1964. After retirement, the couple resided in Waubeka, where Rev. Hammen served the people of St. Paul’s Community Church from 1970 to 1972. Ella Jeanne moved to West Bend after her husband’s death. She was currently a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend.


Survivors include a son, Philip (Vicki) Hammen of West Lafayette, Indiana;a stepdaughter, Audrey (Ray) Pritchard of Costa Rica; three grandchildren, Kimberly (Jonathan) New, Sarah Hammen and Spencer Hammen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Louise Kupper and Adeline McKinnon and three brothers, Arnold Kupper, Arthur Kupper and August Kupper.


Funeral services for Ella Jeanne were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 501 Walnut Street, West Bend. Rev. Rich Vincent officiated and burial was in Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Kewaskum.


Relatives and friends called at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
