Elma M. Thom, (nee Quaas) age 90, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha.
She was born on September 7, 1923 to the late Herman and Aletta (nee Peters) Quaas on the family homestead farm in the Town of West Bend. Elma graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1941. She then went to work for the West Bend Company. On June 4, 1947 Elma was united in marriage to LeRoy Thom at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. Together they made their home in the Town of West Bend, where they hobby farmed, raising horses and cows.
Elma was a lifelong member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and member of the West Bend Company 25 year club. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, baking, and canning.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Streese of West Bend; three grandchildren, Melissa McKee of Red Wing, MN, Eric (Nadia Margulis) Dvoracek of Arlington Heights, IL, and David (Hannah) Streese of West Bend; two great-grandsons, Ian and Brennen McKee; three sisters, Myrtle (Dan) Fischer of Kewaskum, Aletta (Clayton) Stautz of Kewaskum, and Orlean (Gene) LePien of Hartford; two brothers, Wilmer (Edna) Quaas of Port Washington, and Donald Quaas of Kewaskum; two sisters-in-law, Carol (John) Schwartz of Hartford, and Delores Hauser of Ft. Meyers, FL; a brother-in-law, William Burns of Decatur, Georgia,; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy in 2013; her parents; a son-in-law, Roger Streese; a sister,Loudella (Don) Edmison; a sister-in-law,, LaVerne Burns; along with a brother-in-law, LaMoine Hauser.
Funeral services in remembrance of Elma will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 12:00 (noon) at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Ave.) West Bend. Rev. David Kellerman will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
