Elmer A. Kittel

Elmer A. Kittel, 88, of the town of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Libby’s House Assisted Living in Plymouth.


He was born on August 8, 1920, in Wausau, the son of the late John and Esther (Laabs) Kittel, on September 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to Jeanette L. Nelson. Jeanette preceded him in death in July 1960. On April 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Aggie Yank Woyach at St. Matthias Catholic Church in the town of Auburn.


Elmer proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the owner and operator of the Bar-n-Ranch in the town of Auburn for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and made very detailed pieces.


Survivors include his wife, Aggie; three children, Dennis (Mary) Kittel of Slinger, Gary (Dorothy) Kittel of Tampa, Florida and Vicki Kleinhaus of New Fane; a stepdaughter, Carol (Chuck) Johnson of Goose Creek, South Carolina; a sister, Florence “Tootie” (Robert) Gustafson of Milwaukee; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, other relatives, friends and his special canine companion, Cooper.


In addition to his first wife and parents, Elmer was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Kittel and a sister, Pat Kowalle.


Funeral services for Elmer were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Mark Eckert officiated and burial, with military honor rites by Montgomery-Plant American Legion Post 10 Wausau, followed at Restlawn Memorial Park, 4710 N. Troy Street in Wausau.


Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
