Elmer J. Thill, 90, of the town of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 9, 1918, in Random Lake, the son of the late Nickolas and Elizabeth (Goschey) Thill, and on June 16, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Fehring at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Slinger. His wife preceded him in death on September 21, 1959. On May 3, 1969, Elmer was united in marriage to Anna (nee Thull) Klesmith at St. Bridget Catholic Church in the town of Wayne.
Elmer was employed by the Whitehouse Milk Company in West Bend and then by the West Bend Company in West Bend for 29 ½ years and also worked at the West Bend Malting Company. He was a member of the West Bend Company 25-Year Club, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, St. Bridget Catholic Church Chapel in the town of Wayne, the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend and the Moose Lodge West Bend 1398. Elmer loved to play sheepshead and belonged to six card clubs. One of his favorite pastimes was working on lawn mowers. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Elmer leaves behind to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 40 years, Anna; three children, JoAnn (Jim) Bauer of the town of Kewaskum, Donald (Cheryl) Thill of West Bend and Kathy (Roger) Mertz of the town of Wayne; a stepson, Robert (Diane) Klesmith of the town of Kewaskum; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Sheehy, Thomas Bauer, Michael (Jen) Bauer, Tina (Heath) Wiskirchen, Nicholus (Allison) Thill, Julie (Dr. Chris) Wenninger, Daniel Mertz, Brian (Stephanie) Mertz, Rhonda (Scott) Prim, Jodi Klesmith and John (Jamie) Klesmith; six great-grandchildren, Simon, Noah, Brandon, Abby, Anamarie and Jacob, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his first wife and his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Mertz; a brother, Albert (Marie) Thill and a sister, Loretta (Halbert) Rheingans.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elmer was held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Elroy Pesch O.F.M. Cap officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in Holy Angels Catholic Church Cemetery in West Bend.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
