Elroy C. Ramthun, age 77, of Hartford, formerly of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the Mayville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on March 23, 1927 in Barton to the late Alfred and Helen (nee Schultz) Ramthun, and was married to Viola Bertram on July 21, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in West Bend. Elroy served in the U.S. Army from 1948 until 1961. He then worked at Ataco Steel in Grafton until his retirement in 1979. From 1979 until 1985 he worked as a house painter. His wife preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2002.
Elroy is survived by seven children, Robert Bowser of Iron Ridge, Sharon Fry of West Bend, Kenneth (Marina) Bowser of Janesville, Jerry Bowser of Fond du Lac, James (Peggy) Bowser of Erin, Ginger (Todd) Erickson of Hartford, and Dale Ramthun of Adams Friendship; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Schmitz of Adams, and Patricia (Anthony) Antiona of Cedar Grove; a brother, Alfred Ramthun of West Allis; a sister-in-law, Betty Ramthun of Hot Springs, AR; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Roman and Marvin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 15 at 11:00 am at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Rev. David Schoob of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will follow in Newburg Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
