Elsie C. Bruessel, 95, of Kewaskum, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center in the town of West Bend.
Elsie was born on November 14, 1918, in the town of Barton, the daughter of the late Albert and Philippine (nee Roecker) Butzlaff, and on November 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Clarence Bruessel at St. John's Lutheran Church in West Bend. Clarence preceded Elsie in death on March 7, 1980.
Elsie was a member of St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum and the Ladies Aid, and was also a member of the Kewaskum XYZ Club and the West Bend Senior Citizens.
Elsie was an accomplished seamstress and received much enjoyment from flower gardening, baking (especially homemade bread), traveling (having traveled to Hawaii, Florida and numerous times to Colorado to visit her daughter) and playing cards. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed time with her family and friends. Elsie will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.
Those Elsie leaves behind to cherish her memory include three daughters, Elaine (Roger) Vetter of Beechwood, Joyce (Mark) Kral of Kewaskum and Alice (Donald) Voss of Broomfield, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Amy (Don) Nelson, Michael (Annette) Vetter, Erik (Tammy) Kral, Bridget Bier (fiance, Mark Cuffel), Katie (Chris) Small, Vanessa (Kyle) Skala and Nicole (Bryan) Clark; 12 great-grandchildren, Amanda (David) Wheeler, Adam Nelson, Serena and Chloe Vetter, Brody and Brooklyn Kral, Ella and Addison Small, Annabelle and Ashton Skala, Kylie and Aliya Clark, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was preceded in death by a sister, Lila Kirchner, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Elsie were held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Rev. Troy Swenson officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Elsie's family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to St. Lucas Lutheran Church, St. Lucas Lutheran School or Cedar Community are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Elsie's arrangements.
Elsie's family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Cedar Community, especially the staff in Timber Cove and the staff of Cedar Community Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Elsie and to Pastor Henning and Pastor Swenson for their visits and attentive spiritual care.
