Elvera Marks, (nee Beck), age 87, of West Bend, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend.
She was born on July 31, 1921 in the town of Sigel to the late Walter and Lydia (nee Haferman) Beck. On Sept. 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to Clifford "CJ" Marks in Junction City and the couple moved to West Bend in 1943. She was a long-time member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and enjoyed serving on St. John's Ladies Aid and St. John's Ladies Guild.
Elvera is survived by her three children, Bonnie (Tom) Arndt of West Bend, Betty (Steve) Roecker of Hazelhurst, and Dale (Diane) Marks of South Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren, Shelly (Terry) Ziegelbauer, Bruce Arndt, Brian (Jill) Arndt, Brett (Deanna) Roecker, Joelle Roecker, Jaime (Seth) Moore, Douglas Conery, Kristopher (Tanya) Marks, Brenda Marks, Carrie (Mark) Zirfloff; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Wussow, Myrtle King, and Beverly (Jerry) DeMille; and many other close relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her granddaughter, Patricia Arndt; and her grandson, Randall Arndt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate and entombment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church or to the Cedar Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
