Elvira Melius, age 98, of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
She was born on November 16, 1907 in the town of Scott, the daughter of the late August and Anna (Klug) Staege, and on June 16, 1928, she was united in marriage to Lowell C. Melius at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
The couple farmed in the town of Scott until 1955 when they moved to Batavia. Lowell preceded his wife in death on October 25, 2000.
Elvira was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Ralph) Koth of Kewaskum; four grandchildren, Perry (Joann) Koth and their children, Christopher (Carrie), Jennifer and Curtis (Nicole) and their children, Chloe and Samuel; Randall Koth; Rev. Jeffrey (Kristine) Koth and their children, Lindsay, Brian, Alexis and Anna; Scott (Christine) Koth and their children, Sarah and Brandon, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Art Staege and a sister, Lisetta Krautkramer.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, W8497 Brazelton Drive, Random Lake (town of Scott). Rev. Kurt Ziemann officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
