Emily A. Wergin, age 20, of West Bend, passed away Sunday September 1, 2013 at her home from an asthma attack.
She was born on July 1, 1993 in Sheboygan to Randy and Cindy (nee Gundrum) Wergin, and at a young age moved with her family to West Bend. Emily graduated from West Bend West High School in the class of 2011. She then attended UWWC and earned an associate degree in liberal arts, and was preparing to attend nursing school.
She had a promising future as a nurse practioner and her loss on earth is a great loss to the medical field. Working at Homes for independent living as a CNA gave her an opportunity to share her love and compassion for people. She smiled every time she went to work and always upon returning. She loved her coworkers as well as all the clients.
Emily loved people, loved animals and had a special place in her heart for people with disabilities. She was an intelligent and fun-loving young lady who loved life. Her personality shined in all she did. She never slowed down or gave up. She was an inspiration to all her family and friends. She will be missed on this earth, but will shine in heaven. God is so lucky to have her in His arms.
She has loved animals since she was born and was fortunate to have worked at Decorah Animal Hospital during high school. Volleyball was always a part of her life; she played in middle school, high school and college. She will be missed on the alumni team at UWWC.
Emily is survived by her parents, Randy & Cindy Wergin of West Bend; two sisters, Abby Wergin of West Bend and Holly Wergin of West Bend; a brother, Wyatt Wergin of West Bend; maternal grandparents, Mary Gundrum of West Bend, and Paul (Carole) Gundrum of West Bend; paternal grandparents, Erwin (Deanna) Wergin of West Bend; three aunts, Tracy (Fred) Meyer of West Bend, Beth (Clark Watry) Wergin of Oakdale, CA, and Sherry (Marc) Mikkelson of Elkhart Lake; two uncles, Mark (Lisa) Wergin of West Bend, and Rick (Colleen) Wergin of New Richmond; her dogs, Hopper and Maddie; her cat Ninja; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service in remembrance of Emily will be held on Friday September 6th at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
