Erna Baierl, 95, of Oshkosh, formerly of Fond du Lac, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Harbor House in Oshkosh.
She was born on May 7, 1913, the daughter of the late Wolfgang and Anna (Zangl) Elsinger, and on January 29, 1942, she was united in marriage to Edward Baierl at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. Her husband preceded her in death on July 21, 1980.
Erna was a former member of Sons of Zebedee St. John Catholic Church in Byron.
Survivors include two children, Carol Kelnhofer (special friend, Leo Faucher) and
Kenneth (Ellie) Baierl both of Fond du Lac; a brother, Raymond Elsinger of Lomira; three sisters, Marie Roberts, Elsie (Gene) McCrory and Flossie McCrory all of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jim) Wathan, Steffanie (Lanny) Orr, Kenneth E. (Jenny) Baierl, Jr., Sue (Mark) Goulais and Jodi (Brian) Reilley; six great-granddaughters, Michelle, Cassandra and Tessa Goulais and Erika, Abby and Emily Wathan; two brothers-in-law, Alois Baierl of Lomira and Frank (Linda) Baierl of Neshkoro, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Erna was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather (nee Baierl) Jones; three brothers, Arthur, Norbert and Theodore Elsinger and a sister, Josephine Riese.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Erna will be held at noon on Friday, May 8, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 699 Milwaukee Street in Lomira. Father Dennis Budka will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
