Ervin H. Terlinden, 86, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 25, 1923, in the town of Auburn, the son of the late Julius and Dora (Opper) Terlinden, and on June 23, 1945, he was united in marriage to Dolores Kocher at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
Ervin was the owner and operator of Terlinden Roofing, an honorable business he had for 45 years. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum, the KettleMoraine Klassic Kar Klub and the Senior Center Band. Ervin drove his convertibles in many parades for politicians and puppets. He built and pulled the music wagon for the Senior Center and played and sang in the group. He spent many summers camping and fishing at Lynn Ann’s on Big St. Germain Lake. Ervin will fondly be remembered for all the Christmas trees and wreaths he and Dolores sold at Terlinden’s Tree Lot at Eighth and Poplar Streets in West Bend to many generations of families, an over 60 year tradition the family plans to continue.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dolores; four children, Gary (Joyce) Terlinden of Fond du Lac, Jean (Elroy) Klug of the town of Cedarburg, June Karnitz of Fond du Lac and Karl Terlinden of the town of Barton; ten grandchildren, Melissa (Dee) Temples, Lisa Klug (fiancé, Trevor Gantner), Christopher Klug, Tracy (Terry) Ringwell, Jennifer (Curtis) Ringwell, Jeffrey Karnitz, Jesse (Amber) Terlinden, Luke Terlinden, Heidi Terlinden and Marie Terlinden; five great-grandchildren, Cora Ringwell, Kieran Ringwell, Calvin Karnitz, Landon Terlinden and Elsa Temples; three step-great-granddaughters, Terra Ringwell, Sandy Ringwell and Kristina Ringwell; a former daughter-in-law, Marilyn Terlinden of West Bend; a former son-in-law, Tom Karnitz of West Bend; a sister, Dorothy Krewald of Mesa, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Diane Kocher of West Bend, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by a brother, Peter; his parents-in-law, Herbert and Olga Kocher and three brothers-in-law, Alvin Krewald, Howard Kocher and Marlin (Irene) Kocher.
Funeral services for Ervin were held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiated and entombment was at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
Relatives and friends called on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
