Esther L. Koenig, (nee Crass), age 82, of West Bend, passed away Tuesday September 11, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 4, 1925 in Phelps to the late Joseph and Edna (nee Gerner) Crass. At a young age she moved with her family to a farm in the Fillmore area. On April 18, 1942 Esther was united in marriage to Lester Koenig in Fillmore.
Esther belonged to the Tops Club for many years and was the weight recorder. Her warm smile and caring attitude will be remembered, but what will be missed are her pails of chocolate chip cookies and butterscotch torte.
Esther is survived by her husband, Lester Koenig; six children, Sandra (Mike) Arndt, Cheryl (Gary) Chapman, Geri Neuy, Gene (Shelly) Koenig, Lester "Butch" (Kathy) Koenig Jr., and Randy (Tammy) Koenig; 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; a sister Helen (Floyd) Cook; six brothers, Merlin (Alice) Crass, Donald (Fayme) Crass, Roy (Frances) Crass, Everett Crass, Bruce Crass, and Phillip Crass; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Duncan; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Krause, Gladys Lechner, and Edna Peters, along with seven brothers, Wilmer, Russell, Orville, Ray, Bill, Joe, and Carlos.
In loving memory of Esther, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a public open house celebration of her life will be held on Sunday September 23rd from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at her residence (7528 Tower Dr.). Memorials to Horizon Hospice in Hartford (110 Lone Oak La., suite 200) are appreciated by the family.
