Ethyl J. Ohmann

Ethyl J. Ohmann (nee Eggert), age 94, of West Bend, passed away Monday December 9, 2013 at Cedar Community Health Care Center.

Ethyl was born on June 23, 1919 in Milwaukee to the late George and Esther (nee Beck) Eggert. She attended school in the Richfield and West Bend school districts. Ethyl met her future husband Walter "Wally" Ohmann at a local roller skating rink and they were united in marriage on May 28, 1938 in Kewaskum.

Ethyl worked at the Amity Company, but soon became a stay at home mom to three daughters. She then worked part time for the Parkette Candy Store, helping out at Parkway Catering. She was later employed at the West Bend Pharmacy for 15 years and went on to serve 17 years with the West Bend School Food Service at Silverbrook Middle School. Ethyl is remembered fondly by many former students.

Ethyl was a charter member of West Bend Kettle Campers of W.C.A., the West Bend Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club, Myraneers 4-H Club, and the Bender Badgers 4-H Club. She served on the advisory board and board of directors of the Washington County Senior Center. Volunteered for 27 years with St. Joseph's Hospital Aux., the Washington County Historical Society, and Cedar Lake Campus Family Council. Ethyl enjoyed spending time with her family, playing sheepshead, cribbage, blackjack, and watching sports.

She is survived by three daughters, Jean (Willard) Goeden of Kewaskum, Sandra (Daniel) Berres of West Bend, and Kay (Fred) Bandle of Cedarburg; nine grandchildren, Wendi (Randy) Dreher, David (Sue) Goeden, Don (Kelly) Goeden, Candi (Eric) Block, Nanci (Chad) Czuppa, Jenni (Nolan) Ciriacks, Cyndie (Dan) Dorn, Nick (Friend Vanessa) Berres, and Jessica (Ben) Jacobson; 20 great grandchildren, Danielle, Megan, Logan, Austin, Brent, Eric, Morgan, Nathan, Natali, Gage, Nina, Jerald, Clayton, Natasha, Lyndsey, Aprille, Johnathon, Kaylin, Elise, and Elena; two great-great grandchildren, Dylin and Lexie; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wally in 2000; a grandson, Justin Bobholz; two brothers, George and Harold (Esther) Eggert; three sisters-in-law, Emily Kasten, Frieda Zimdars, and Anna Lemcke.

Funeral services will be held on Friday December 13th at 7:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Ave.), West Bend. Rev. David Kellerman will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park Monday at 10:00 am.

Memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated by the family.
