Eugene D. "Gene" Lamarche

June 23, 1925 — July 22, 2011

Eugene D. “Gene” LaMarche, 86, of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.


He was born on June 23, 1925, in Stevens Point, the son of the late Wilfrid and Lillian (Stuske) LaMarche. Gene served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II, and on March 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mary Callsen in Maquoketa, Iowa.


Gene earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and his Master’s Degree from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota. He taught at Kewaskum High School, primarily biology, for 33 years retiring in 1987.


Gene was a member of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum and Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Gene and Mary volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society and were instrumental in establishing a chapter in Kewaskum.


Those Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Mary; five children, John (Maggie) LaMarche of Des Moines, Iowa, Connie (Cliff) McDonald of Racine, James (Toni) LaMarche of Santa Cruz, California, Jeanne LaMarche (Chris Hanson) of Milwaukee and Jeffrey (Maud) LaMarche of Stevens Point; a brother, Jerry (Mary) LaMarche of Sacramento, California; a sister, Lin Korzilius of Modesto, California, 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.


A Memorial Mass for Gene was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating.


Gene’s family received family and friends at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.


Memorials to the Kewaskum Youth Scholarship Fund (KEYS) or Holy Trinity Catholic School are appreciated.


The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Gene’s arrangements.
