Eugenia "Jean" SauvAC., nee Lasiewicz, 81, of West Bend, WI passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
She was born on April 16, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and Julia (nee Walkowiak) Lasiewicz. Jean attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, where she met the love of her life and she was united in marriage to Dale J. SauvAC. on April 25, 1953 at St. Ferdinand Church in Chicago.
Jean graduated from Marquette University with a B.S. in Nursing in 1952 and she was then employed as a staff nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital (1952 to 1954) and St. Michael's Hospital (1957 to 1970) in Milwaukee. She returned to Marquette University and earned her M.S. in Nursing in 1974. She then worked as a nursing instructor at Milwaukee Area Technical College until retiring in 1987.
Over the years, Jean and her family enjoyed many trips to the Southwest, which ultimately lead Jean and her husband to move to Santa Fe, NM after their retirement. While living in Santa Fe, Jean donated a great deal of her time and skills. She volunteered as a receptionist at an HIV Clinic, a volunteer at an HIV Hospice, a docent at the Wheelwright Museum, a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital, a volunteer at the Santa Fe Library Book Shop, and as the "Book Lady" at a hospice thrift store. She was an active member of her church as the church library organizer and as an usher.
Jean and Dale moved back to West Bend in 2004 and Jean continued her volunteer work at the West Bend Community Memorial Library. Dale passed away March 21, 2005.
She is survived by seven children, Theresa "Terri" (Jim) Heironimus of Howard, OH, Kathleen (Jim) Chiu of Peach Tree City, GA, Valerie (Brian Klabunde) SauvAC. of Milwaukee, WI, Mark (Kyrie) SauvAC. of Peach Tree City, GA, Christopher (Wanda) SauvAC. of West Bend, WI, Michael (Vicki) SauvAC. of West Bend, WI, and Nicole (John) Budiac of West Bend, WI; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Calabrese of Schaumburg, IL; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Henrietta Crawford, a brother, Earl Lasworth, and a grandson, Christopher SauvAC..
A Memorial Mass in remembrance of Jean will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend, WI. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials would be appreciated to St. Ben's Community Meal in Milwaukee, Casa Guadalupe in West Bend, or the House of Peace in Milwaukee.
