Eunice E. Sampson

Eunice Eileen Sampson, 88, of the Town of Byron died on Monday, August 23, 2010, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

She was born on October 13, 1921, in Fond du Lac County, the daughter of the late Ben and Elda (Dehring) Kindschuh, and on December 4, 1943, she married Arlin Sampson at Salem Evangelical Church in Lomira. Her husband preceded her in death on April 26, 2000.


Eunice graduated from Goodrich High School in 1940 and attended Fond du Lac Vocational School. She took a position as a payroll clerk at the Mayville Shoe Factory. She was employed at Allis-Chalmers in Milwaukee from May 1943 to October 1946 as a tool room clerk. In the fall of 1946 Arlin and Eunice moved back to the Fond du Lac area to farm. They owned Sampson Auction Barn, Sampson Red Barn Store, and a dairy farm. She was also employed at Regal Ware in Kewaskum for eight years and she had a spice business at the Princeton flea market for 15 years. Her many interests included travel, reading, cross stitch, genealogy, and gardening.

Eunice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. Many of the flowers in Sunday altar arrangements at the church were grown in her garden.


She is survived by her son, Richard (Gail) Sampson of Anchorage, Alaska, and her daughter, Gloria Sampson of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren Brian Klinksiek of London, United Kingdom; Bobbi Sampson (Robinson Duffy) of Fairbanks, Alaska; Blythe Sampson and Rebecca Sampson (Chang-Chou Wang) of Anchorage, Alaska; her great grandchildren include Joshua Sampson, Molly and Ella Wang, and Arthur Duffy; her sister-in-law, Joyce Kindschuh of Oakfield, other relatives and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Eunice was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll (Marilyn) and Calvin Kindschuh.


A memorial service for family and friends is planned for a later date. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.
