Eva Buesing

August 29, 1930 — December 29, 2012

Eva A. Buesing, (nee Mischke), age 82, of West Bend, was called home to the Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg.

Eva was born in Germany on August 29, 1930 to the late Ludwig and Hildegard (nee Schwartz) Mischke. On September 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gerhard Buesing, in Germany. They immigrated to the United States, settled in Milwaukee, and later moved to West Bend. Gerhard preceded her in death on November 24, 2003 after fifty one years of marriage.

Eva was a devoted wife and extraordinary mother. She was affectionately known to us as Maui. Eva had many talents: watercolor and canvas painting, Norwegian Rosemaling, in addition to knitting, sewing, crafting, and gardening. She enjoyed music and in their younger days Gerhard and Eva would often play duets on the piano. When they weren't playing piano they were dancing. Eva was a den mother and Scout Leader trainer. She loved dogs, especially Airedale Terriers, and cats. She had affection for all things in nature, even the deer and chipmunks with which she had an on going battle in her garden.

Eva had a heart of gold. Life was full of ups and downs, but she faced them with quiet courage and perseverance always believing things would turn out right. Maui was always there for us with a willing ear, a shoulder to cry on, encouragement, inspiration, counsel, compassion, and love. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and took great pride in her children as she watched them grow and mature.

Eva is survived by her sons, Lutz (Ria) Buesing and Ole (Kris) Buesing; her daughter, Gerhild (Michael) Cole; five grandchildren, Eric (Jamie), Scott, Sean, Christian (Anne), and Rebecca; five great-grandchildren, Grayson, Emmeline, Samantha, William, and Caleb; one brother, Ernst (Ursula) Mischke; a niece, Vera; a nephew, Karl-Ludwig; other relatives and friends.

We would like to thank the caregivers on 2W at Lasata Care Center for their devotion, compassion, and efforts in keeping Eva comfortable. Thank you also to Heartland Hospice and Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home for their help in the final days.

We will miss Maui's ready smile, which could light up a room, her surprising wit, and her gentle Nature. She left us with many great examples to follow in life and talents to develop. We take comfort in knowing she is dancing with Dad and Jesus in heaven.

A private memorial service was held at Mike and Gerhild's home, Pastor Jeff Schimp from Glacier Hills Bible Church in Hartford officiated.

Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org are appreciated by the family.
