Evangeline A. “Vannie” Harter, 90, of the town of Scott, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum, with her family at her side.
She was born on October 24, 1921, in the town of Fredonia, the daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Wollner) Minz, and on February 7, 1942, she was united in marriage to Marlin Harter at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Marlin preceded Evangeline in death on April 6, 2000.
Vannie was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend for over 25 years and was a member of the 25-Year Club. She was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Some of her favorite pastimes included embroidering, cross-stitching and taking care of her poodles.
Those Evangeline leaves behind to cherish her memory include three children, Donald Harter of West Bend, Donna (Roman) Ernst and Gerald (Joan) Harter both of Campbellsport; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Harter of Campbellsport; a brother-in-law, Reuben (Alice) Harter of Beechwood, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Evangeline was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Harter; two grandsons, Jeffery Harter and Brian Ernst; a granddaughter, Brenda Harter; a sister, Bernice (Roland) Nichols; a brother-in-law, Alton (Florence) Harter and a sister-in-law, Laverne (Fredrick) Kleinke.
Funeral services for Vannie were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Rev. Kurt Ziemann officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the church from noon until the time of services.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Evangeline’s arrangements.
